Las Vegas, NV (KTNV)- Students at a local middle school banned together to save a small stray Chihuahua's life.

Butch is his name, and he gets around great now. But this wasn't the story three months ago after he was found abandoned and seriously injured in front of Gibson Middle School.

"He was in a lot of pain so he snipped at me. And I could tell something was going on," said Roann Triada, the Assistant Principal at Gibson.

Triada found him in the gutter with a badly broken back leg and says she just couldn't turn a blind eye.

"We got a little blanket and put him in a box and I thought, oh my gosh, what am I going to do now," said Triada.

That's when the folks at A Home For Spot, a local dog rescue, stepped in.
