Sun City Animal Hospital has an extern program for currently enrolled 3rd and 4th year veterinary medical students.
Sun City is a 5 doctor clinic located in the affluent Summerlin area of Las Vegas. We are a companion animal practice that focuses on canine and feline medicine and surgery.
We provide professional mentoring in a busy, progressive hospital. Students will have access to training with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, Aloka Alpha 6 ultrasound unit with linear and cardiac probes, Companion Therapy Laser, Abaxis in house laboratory equipment with I-Stat analyzer, and VIA Practice Management Software for our paper lite medical records. Additional opportunities to work with specialists in soft tissue/orthopedic surgery, cardiology, oncology, and rehabilitation are available to those in the program.
Housing will be provided at a nearby hotel. Transportation will be provided to and from the clinic. A weekly stipend will be provided.
Sun City Animal Hospital is located in the heart of Summerlin, which is the largest master planned community in Las Vegas. The hospital has been a cornerstone of the community since 1993 providing care for companion animals as well as acting as a resource for education and community service. Nearby is Red Rock Canyon for hiking, Mount Charleston for skiing, Lake Mead for water sports, and Dumont Dunes for desert motor sports. The hospital enjoys a great clientele that expects compassionate and progressive veterinary care that we love to provide.
As a hospital we believe in strong mentorship as a critical component in developing young veterinarians as they enter practice and the staff veterinarians have over 30 years of combined experience in veterinary medicine and surgery to foster this.
